Along with her husband Phil Morstad, Karla is the Co-Owner of Goodwinds, the premier watersports center in the Caribbean focusing on the instruction of wind and wave sports. As the Creative Director, Karla has been the driving force behind the development of Goodwinds as a lifestyle brand where its products can be found online and in their surf boutique. Goodwinds, located within Dorado Beach Resort is the longest operating kitesurfing school in Puerto Rico, and has been integral in the positioning of Puerto Rico as one of the best wind sports destinations in the world. With that as an end goal, Karla has co-produced several events of great magnitude such as the Windsurfing Formula World Championships, has fostered relationships with government, private and nonprofit entities, and has led several initiatives focusing on supporting the growth of watersports on the island.
In 2004 prior to owning Goodwinds, Karla represented Puerto Rico in the Olympics that took place in Athens in the sport of Windsurfing. Karla then graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Puerto Rico’s Faculty of Business Administration, where she was awarded as the most Distinguished Student in the Marketing Minor. Upon graduation, Karla created several business ventures such as Nudi Pasta and KBM Strategic Online Marketing.
After relocating her family and Goodwinds to Dorado in 2012, Karla understood there was a need for a Real Estate company that focuses on providing data with transparency and that satisfies the unique needs of Buyers in Dorado. Thus, in 2015 Karla acquired her Real Estate Broker’s license and in 2020 co-founded her Real Estate company Island&Key, which has set several record sales for the area of Dorado and serves its clients with a boutique-style approach.
Karla is also a mother of two young girls, entrepreneur, watersports enthusiast, music lover, mix media artist and the Co-Founder of ICON Institute a local non-profit organization seeking to cause positive impact in Puerto Rico.
